Web and service applications

Allgemeine Unfallversicherungsanstalt

AUVA (Allgemeine Unfallversicherungsanstalt) is Austria's statutory accident insurance and protects around 3.1 million employees and around 1.4 million pupils and students.

A common platform

For AUVA, kraftwerk developed a coherent digital platform that combines over 20 individual websites and applications into a holistic web and digital service offering. In an intensive co-creation process, over 70 internal stakeholders from various specialist areas were involved, over 30 personas were developed and eight overarching target groups were defined.

kraftwerk took over not only the UX strategy and technical implementation, but also the management of the interdisciplinary teams on the customer side — with the aim of digitally repositioning AUVA as a modern, accessible and service-oriented institution.

Challenges

The challenge is that the system landscape is fragmented: There is a lack of a uniform user experience, and there are different editorial workflows and CMS standards side by side.

Maintenance is difficult, maintenance costs are high and the digital visibility of individual offers remains low. In addition, there is a complex stakeholder landscape with many different interests, while a consistent target group approach is just as lacking as a central database or continuous user management. There are also barriers to accessibility and mobile use, and responsibilities and role models are opaque.

The solution: What have we achieved?

The solution lies in the harmonization and development of a central landscape, which is brought together into a coherent overall system. The core is a uniform, barrier-free UI/UX system based on target groups and personas, supplemented by a consistent CMS with clear role and rights models.

A well-thought-out editorial concept ensures uniform workflows, while agile project management ensures the active involvement of all stakeholders. In addition, there is content harmonization and migration as well as a sustainable architecture with APIs and scalable services. The whole thing is rounded off by extensive accessibility audits.
